Captain Jack Vader

So, I officiated a very unique wedding yesterday which involved me wearing a Darth Vader helmet, pirate patch, speaking Elvish and impersonating Yoda!

No joke! Things started off a little left of center when the bridesmaids came down the isle to a techno version of the Pirates of the Caribbean theme while wearing wenches corsets. Then the weirdness got amped up a notch when the bride - Shannah Barletto - walked down the isle to the Star Wars theme.

Shannah and her new husband David are self-confessed Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings geeks. Hence, I spoke Elvish and Yoda-ish, and literally wore an eye patch and a giant Darth Vader helmet.

All in all it was an interesting ceremony to say the least - and before it, there was an interesting conversation on my Facebook wall about the moral implications of a pastor wearing a Vader mask during the ceremony.

But you know what - it was a lot of fun, and exactly what the couple wanted ... well ... they actually wanted me to wear a full Jack Sparrow costume!

What do you think? Should a pastor wear a costume while performing a wedding?

PS: I'll post photos once i have them!
