Just had to throw a quick shout out to our latest Liquid Roadie...

Normally when you think of someone on the Roadies, you probably picture some big burly dude who muscles his way through the set up and take down of heavy equipment and staging materials.  And more often than not, that's definitely the case!  But like a lotta things here at Liquid...you don't always get what you expect (and that can be a very good thing! ; )  Micki, thanks so much for reminding all of us that a big ol' heart for Jesus and His peeps is all it takes to pitch in and find a place to serve!  =D

But yes, as it slipped during yesterday's 11am and I acquiesced at the 5pm, my dad really did learn English (more accurately, "perfected" his conversational English) watching Star Trek.  (Give the ol'man a break...it was the 70s and he had just moved to a foreign land! ; )  Dad if you're reading...love ya!  =D

All that to say, this brand new series, At the Movies, has kicked off to a great start!  No less than 99 people came out to Liquid yesterday for the first time ever, over 200 free movie tickets were handed out, and one person invited Christ into his life for the first time!  How awesome is that?  Who would've thought that actively engaging the battle between faith and reason thru the lens of a summer blockbuster like Angels and Demons would lead to someone starting a new  relationship with Christ?  Who would've thought that people would actually be able to look past Tom Hank's hair in the movie?  (No seriously...what is that?!?)

To me this all goes to show that whether it's to perfect your conversational language skills, engage the cosmic and spiritual mysteries of the universe, or meet Jesus for the first time...the place to be this summer is At the Movies with Liquid Church!  ; D

THEORY #10508: small things count BIG time!

Welcome to the first entry of a blog designed especially for the peeps of Liquid MoTown and beyond!  And to start things off, I'd like to share with you a quick story about the tall, blonde dude who’s made his way into the hearts of many – Michael “No, Seriously...Chicks Really Dug My 80s Pubescent Stache” Leahy.                                                                                                
A little over a year ago, when the Kang Gang first came to Liquid as guests – who should be standing outside waving, directing traffic, and answering passerby questions but this tall, blonde dude (minus the stache)?                                                                                                               
Now I don’t exactly know how or why...but immediately after driving up to him for more directions, our First-Time-Guests-At-A-New-Church-Guards melted on the spot!  In fact, I just remember rolling up the window, driving in the direction he instructed and saying to Erica with a chuckle: “That guy was so stinkin nice...and not even in like the ‘churchy-kinda-annoying-way’ nice...Are we still in Jersey?!”  ...THAT was our very first Liquid experience - so good!

Maybe not even your first one...but the one where you realized Liquid (MoTown edition) was a place you could call home.  Cuz, whatever it was, I bet there was an element of some team involved, right?  Someone who was thrilled to hand you a program cuz they knew you were about to get your socks blown off...someone who set up a kick-butt stage for God to show off...someone who made a cool and helpful sign...someone who lugged that cool and helpful but heavy A-frame sign to the bottomless pit of P4...someone who “validated” you (parking-ticket-style)...someone who made you feel secure cuz you knew your kids were safe...someone who greeted you with a smile and called you by first name...or someone who respected your preference to remain anonymous and didn’t chase you down, forcing or shaming you to wear a name tag... =P                                                                                                                                                 
It’s often the small things that make a BIG difference for a lot of people! - thanks, Mikey, for not only setting up amazing teams with amazing peeps who oooze the truth of that 1st official theory BIG time...but for also serving/leading as an example to so many of us!  (You oughta think about starting a blog or something...something about great leaders, serving, etc.)  ; D

And MoTown...I just gotta say, I'm so pumped to serve alongside each of YOU in small and BIG ways -- Kangsta  =D
