On Sunday Pastor Bill touched on what it looks like to bring our faith home to our families. In ancient Hebrew culture parents were given numerous tools and instructions to aid them in teaching their families about faith.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
Pastor Bill was right; it can be intimidating to try to share these truths with our kids, especially when we don't feel qualified to do so. I mean, who am I to try to teach a child about being honest when I struggle with constantly lying? Or cheating? Or losing my temper?
Every Sunday we give you material to help you talk about faith with your children during the week. That's a great place to start opening discussions with your kids. If you'd like to go even deeper, we can offer you more resources to engage your children. Let us know if you'd be interested by sending an email to me or Hyo Sil.
